My roommate drove to Mongolia from the UK with some friends from his graduate program a little while back. You'll have to brace yourself for the local drink of fermented horse milk. Then again, that might be just the thing for the flu.

It's not lovely at all right now, but I would still totally escape to Mongolia with you. Or possibly western China? We could cross the Oxus in winter . . .
