Hi! *waves* Alan has given us some wonderful insights into how Tom approaches directing in his various interviews to promote Patriot, and this quote is one of my favorites. I'm glad you liked it, too. Thanks for commenting!
Wow. What a lovely testimonial to our Tom. And ya know, we hear these same types of comments over and over. It seems to me that to get to really know Tom, is to love him. He may seem one way to strangers (or fans), but the person underneath seems like a totally cool dude.
And yeah, just based on the 2 times I saw Tom in person, I'd say that Tom definitely does NOT equal Clark. Tom is much more comfortable in his own skin.
I think it's obvious from all his Patriot interviews that being directed by Tom gave Alan a whole new level of appreciation for our boy, and I so love all the tidbits he has shared. He's given us a glimpse of Tom that even his most devoted fans are rarely lucky enough to see.
There are a lot of actors about whom I wish I knew less, because I've had my naive illusions about them shattered, but everything I've ever heard about Tom has made me adore him more. I really do think he's an amazing man.
ETA: D'oh! I forgot to say Happy Birthday!! I hope you're indulging yourself today! *big birthday hugs*
Funny: Tom is nothing like Clark, but in the end he has the same qualities too? You can´t have it both ways, Alan! ;)) Anyway, it´s a lovely comment, and I always start to like people who say such nice things about Tom much more than I did before.
Thanks!
And since I will be out soon over the holidays, let me wish you and everyone else Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year, although it will bring the end of Smallville and probably a very long time without Tom. I can´t even imagine an eternal hiatus... *sigh*
Alan won me over during his podcast interview with SHoE, back at the end of S6, but all his recent Tom stories have endeared him to me even more. :) It sounds like the two of them had a great time together on Patriot.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you, too! I don't even want to think about the Tom hiatus we'll be facing when Smallville ends. Even if he does continue acting (and I feel certain he won't jump into anything right away, unless a miracle happens and they give him the Superman film), there is such a huge time lag between when a project is filmed and when we actually see it. Look at Michael Rosenbaum, who loves to be in front of the cameras: he's made several films in the almost three years since he left the show, but none of them has seen wide release yet. My Smallville DVDs will be in heavy rotation for a long, long time, I'm afraid. :(
