It's not that I mind the idea so much- I know it's been in the works for a while- but the thing that grates is that it's apparently serious. I would totally watch a movie about Abe Lincoln killing vampires in some weird AU civil war. But it needs to be *funny* and self aware and ridiculous and OTT.

Yes!! Exactly. It seems like they're trying for a Sherlock Holmes feel and while I lurve the Sherlock movies, and that genre lends itself to horror and vampire stories so well (mostly because its the era that truly spawned the classic horrors) I don't think you can shoe horn historical AU like this???!!

Not unless you make it quirky and funny. BUT even then, Dr Who would do it better. Or at least learn from the travesty of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and pick a genre and stick with it.

Hadn't heard about this movie, watched the trailer and... *mouth fell open* really? They're making a movie about Lincoln as a vampire hunter?! But then again... with a hat that size I suppose he could hide a lot of weapons under it :)
