Hey there - you don't know me but I saw your post on someone's flist and as I too live in Johannesburg just had to come and read your list.

It's great :) Reading things like this re-inforces my pride in being South African.

No way!

That's awesome. And it was pretty cool sitting and thinking about most of them. And luckily FB provided a few friends a chance to do so as well, 'cos I didn't even know all of them! :)

Really cool! Must be awesome to travel with so much to see. Would love to see the desert bloom. I was trying to come up with interesting facts about where I live and.... nope, nothing! lol!

I'm sure there are 'some' interesting things about where you live... *prods* but yes, SA is a great place to travel around and visit. Only downside - all the crime :(

I love to hear about all the things of other countries! =)

Robots! Um, my mind jumped immeditately to Terminator.... *lalala*

11 official languages? 8o Do you need to know all of them or are there "official" official languages?

Wow @ #10 - that's really, really awesome!

*grins* @26

Thank you for this! :)

Welcome!

On the official languages, no - you don't need to speak all of them. But school kids need to learn at least two - their mother tongue and one other. I speak english and afrikaans. Most african kids can speak two or three of the african languages and english.

#26 - gah! Happened this week as well! :) Who needs a alarm!

Two? *wah* That's a lot!

*grins* That sounds familiar! When I was little swallows were nesting under our roof - yeah, no sleeping long in the mornings anymore. :D

Well, you speak two too :) right? :)

No, those birds are completely evil. They know when its saturday or your day off and voila, on the roof -- cawing their heads off to eachother. *mutters*

I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love SA..........would love to go back again.
I remember visiting the Oudtshoom and feeding an ostrich
I also saw a hugh flock of them coming down the highway toward me and a tender drew them to the side of the road as I approached them.
Feeding one was a weird sensation. Had to remove my shiny watch first though. The guide told me they fancy shiny objects.
I also visited a beautiful botanical garden which features numerous variations of these:

YES, you have such a fantastically beautiful country and equally beautiful people.......such diversity too.
I love the culture and the color and the sounds etc.

I remember one time when I went to San Diego and was waiting in baggage claim for my bag and there were two people who looked like they had just returned from a trip.
I asked them where they had been and they said "To the best kept secret in the world"
