Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 and Writerly Stuff

Jul 18, 2011 22:13

I saw Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 on friday night on a whim. Didn't prepurchase the tickets, just decided to take the afternoon off and go see it.

But I decided not to post a response/review until after I had re-read Book 7, which I did this weekend and finished it this evening.

What follows are my ruminations on the book and the movie :) followed by some ( Read more... )

*not reading the Harry Potter things because I'm going to see the movie tomorrow*

*hugs you* I hope you find something new (and better) soon. *crosses fingers*

Oh, bunnies! =) :) I'm looking forward to you being creative - in whatever form. :)

Why leave out the best line/scene between Ron and Hermoine with the save the elves speech = smooch. Why not actually show Fred's death scene? Why leave out Percy's reconciliation with his family? And Oliver Wood and co returning to fight? And the centaurs and house elves joining in the battle? Also, why keep the school full of screaming children? And not mention Teddy Tonks at all! Keeping Harry's and Voldemort's battle out of the Hall and away from specators was visually better, but I felt everyone needed to see the Dark Lord's defeat. And I can't recall, but does Harry actually say 'Expelliarmus' in the movie?

THIS!

I couldn't have said it better. And no, I did not hear Harry say 'Expelliarmus' in the movie ( ... )

Ha! Well, we may both be wrong, but I doubt it. And I feel its kinda important that Harry used such a 'simple' spell to defeat Voldemort.

I am with you on PoA being the best movie *go Gary!*

Perhaps my already poor opinion of the movies saved me from too much disappointment. I expected to be disappointed so ... I totally agree on the final battles. Too much action for the sake of action, even if it was pretty and dramatic.

Thanks for the wishes of luck! May they extend to us all :)

*ponders getting a Harry icon but figures no*

Can I ask if you saw the 3D or 2D version?

Er, 2D.

Not really a fan of 3D, so we made sure to see it in 2D

You?

*boggles at your icon* Nice timing btw. Am watching Tour de France and one of the riders is called Thor. Every time he appears they say his name then add.."God of Thunder" Heh

Anyways *koff* back on topic. I loved Avatar in 3D but have yet to see anything else that appeals. 2D for me.

Really! \o/ Hurrah for Thor... god of Thunder! :)

I concur completely, Avatar was awesome in 3D. It worked on so many levels. BUT nothing else I have seen in 3D has really rocked my boat. Too dark, too disconcerting. And it doesn't help that I wear glasses and become a 'six eyed' freak during 3D.
