The thing you do have to remember is that Katniss is only a teenager. Yes, circumstances have forced her to become more mature than most teenagers even in her own little dystopia, but she is still a teenager and teenagers will often do stupid things.

That said, book two is the weakest of the trilogy. On to book three, as I try desperately not to spoil you.

Yeah, I do tend forget that she is a teenager and certainly not in any shape (yet) ready to be a rebel leader. I hope for some resolution in book three - and I am resisting the urge to just download it and find out *now* :)

Good luck with that. I basically handed the book to my roommate the day it was due back at the library as we were walking out the door to visit the coffee shop in town on a Saturday. Three cups of coffee and four hours later, she was ready to kill me because book two and three weren't in yet. I can't imagine what it must have been like to have to wait for the next book.

Yep, its the benefit of waiting for a series to conclude before beginning or reaching the end. Your poor friend - I have experienced that before too... and its worse when you don't know that its part one of a trilogy or series ;)
