My post earlier tonight has triggered another sci fi related post. Sci fi fans, what weird/crazy/lame/cool/awesome sci fi shows have you watched over the years? I don't mean the mainstream shows, I mean the cable shows, the ones that relied on acting and sets rather than special effects. The short lived. The brief flashes of giddy daylight.

I haven't heard of a lot of those shows! Did however really like Space Above and Beyond and Seven Days - definitely cancelled too soon!
Does Firefly count? Such an awesome show, but only one season :( (Though it did beget the movie :) )
The weirdest non-mainstream show I watched was Lexx. It somehow lasted a bunch of seasons even though I don't think it was very popular.

Firefly counts as an awesome show, obviously. But its not in my 'weird/lame/cool/brilliant/odd' sci fi shows because its awesomeness transcends all that :)

I really liked Alien Nation & Crusade! I only saw Space Above & Beyond twice but I do remember how cool it was. Was Babylon 5 considered mainstream? That was my absolute fav of all time!

In my book Babylon 5 is mainstream - I mean Big Band mentions it and well, it spawned Crusade. I liked Babylon 5 too, it had a different feel as a sci fi show, and I think I need to add to my to very long rewatch list *takes notes*

Invisible Man (ah, Fun Bobby) and Jericho def count as cool shows, but I left them off my list as I also saw them on mainstream tv channels (and not cable). Ah, Luke Perry, where have you gone to?

I have to admit I don't know any of these shows, I think we probably never got to see them around here. :(

One show I loved (and still love) is "Raumpatrouille Orion". It's a German/French show, though (actually the only German show I love) and I'm not sure how well-known it is in other countries. There were only seven episodes in this series, but it's still legend around here. It's from 1965 and in black and white, and the special effects are a lot worse than those of Star Trek TOS. *g*

It really is awesome! *feels nostalgic* Also, I'll never ever get the theme out of my head, it's a real earworm. :) I hope there's an English version of this series on youtube somewhere!
