Attention, showtune nerds! We're trying to guess what shows a local theatre is going to announce for an upcoming season, and I've unearthed the tid-bit that one of the shows requires an outstanding guitarist, presumably a character and not part of a larger onstage band a la Cabaret or Whorehouse ( Read more... )

Does it have to be a musical? because I would guess at Orpheus Descending. The main male role has to be able to play the guitar.

If it's Rent I'll laugh my ass off.

In the non-musical camp, I can't think of any Neil Simon plays that have guitar in them, so I'm stumped.

OH! El Mariachi the Musical! Of course that's what it has to be!

I don't suppose they'd be doing The Goodbye Girl, though Elliot doesn't need to be an outstanding guitarist.

Are you sure they're doing a book musical and not a revue like Ring of Fire?

I'm not sure of anything, although in the past this place has been very traditional, but this year plans to start doing plays and smaller musicals, so anything goes.
Well, no, Anything Goes doesn;t have a guitar in it.
