I can't imagine they'd leave out the Bilbo in a barrel scene. Then again, the ways of filmmakers adapting books can sometimes be strange and mysterious.

Your video link no longer functions. No worries, though, I found it elsewhere.

Anyway:

Music! Sets! Makeup! This really feels like a homecoming, considering how many times I've watched all the extras on my LotR DVDs.

One thing I'm wondering: what are Peter Jackson's plans regarding the scene in Fellowship where Bilbo finds the Ring? Any intention to re-shoot it and replace Ian Holm with Martin Freeman for future releases of the film?

Thanks for pointing out the broken link. I have replaced the embedded video with another version from youtube. Hope this one lasts.

You're right about the feeling of homecoming. I've never been to New Zealand or Middle Earth, but thanks to the dvd my brain has spent a fair amount of time in both places. It's good to be back.

I'm sure they'll shoot Bilbo finding the ring for the new movie. That's too pivotal a scene in The Hobbit to have recycled footage of a different actor. Whether they'll put in Martin Freeman in the flashback of future LoTR releases is more of a question. My vote would be no, but I am clearly not in a decision-making position here. :)
