*sigh*  I'm not particularly interested in getting into Heroes fandom beyond just watching the show and rambling about it a bit.  However, after the season finale, this little scene wouldn't stop bugging me until I committed Heroes fic.  So here it is, if anyone cares.

Title:  Power Lunch
Author: tardis_stowaway
Characters:  Nathan Petrelli, original ( Read more... )

fic by me, nathan petrelli, heroes

Whoa

The cannonicity of this is AMAZING, especially considering we haven't met Nathan!Sylar for more than an instant. Still, it was odly in character. I could see this happening on the show.

Good job!

Thanks so much! Since this isn't a fandom I normally write in, I'm really glad to hear that you think I got it in character.

Unlike Angela, I believe that a person is more than his or her memories. I am fascinated by the idea of this new composite person, Nathan in all the ways that memory, appearance, and self-awareness can make him but still somehow fundamentally Sylar.

This is a thing of beauty. Nathan's political success has never made much sense considering all the stuff he gets up to (and with the levels of absenteeism and scandal in the real Senate, that's saying something). Your fic addresses both this and the bizarre new existence of NathanSylar. Nothing about his creation made any sense at all -- but the result is a fascinating mess of a character.

I look forward to seeing where the show goes from here. And I won't be a bit surprised if it's like this fic at first. (I'm still holding out hope that the real Nathan will come back somehow, though.)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked it. New comments on old fic are exciting.

Exactly! The sheer boneheadedness of Angela's plan to create Nathan!Sylar is astonishing, but I'm really intrigued by the results. I hope the show keeps things ambiguous for a while with the character rather than jumping into some Jekyll and Hyde routine right away. Bringing real Nathan back seems almost impossible...what am I saying? This is Heroes. They make up the rules as they go along, and that means they can bring back proper Nathan if they feel like it. :)
