LOL. Pretty much. I never really watched "space" TV shows excet DW and not many movies that took place in space.

Ahhhh. Well that explains it.

And having the main character be rather dishy (I'm sure) didn't hurt at all. Plus he's got a really cool ship.

Seeing as how I watch a crapload of TV (especially sci-fi), I'd have to say that I have a 4-way tie between Doctor Who, Star Trek TNG, Firefly, and the original Battlestar Galactica.
