Welcome Authors!

As mentioned in the general post, there are some changes this year. First, we are upping the word count. This is NOT to discourage participation in the fest, but because we feel that its time to mix things up a bit. Besides, in previous years the vast majority of word counts have been over 30,000.

The biggest two changes are the mandatory check-ins, and the required full drafts.

There will be two check-ins during the course of the writing period: one at six weeks, one at nine weeks. In order to submit your story for the art, you must at LEAST make the nine-week check-in. This is how we will figure out how many artists we will eventually need. However, we highly encourage you to check in at six weeks as well.

The draft deadline this year means full drafts; that is, drafts with a beginning, a middle and an end that are above the required 30,000 words mark. They don't need to be perfectly polished, but they do need to be complete. Once you submit your draft to us, you may NOT make substantial changes to the fic. The art time is for polishing your stories and making them shine. Your first draft doesn't have to be beta-read, but the story must be complete and beta-read by the time you submit the final copy to us.

The timetable for writers is:
Signups: Today (woo hoo!) - Feb 28
6-week check-in: Apr 18
9-week check-in: May 9
Drafts due: June 6
Final version due: July 11

Signups this year will not be by comments, but by google poll. Fill out the form below, and the information will be saved to a spreadsheet that we can then work with. If you make mistakes, just fill it out again. We will take the most recent signup as the definite one, unless you tell us otherwise.
