Another Completely Inadequate Livejournal Post

I'm in Canada now, although I'm not exactly sure where. Near Toronto? The drive up was very confusing as it involved a lot of going east and somehow ending up north. Also, I'm convinced that Pennsylvania is in the centre of the United States and so it's disconcerting when maps depict it as being practically on the East Coast. My understanding of the US has the Mississippi River running straight down the middle. If I had to draw a map, I'd correct that-- there's a lot of west on this continent-- but there's one side of the river and the other, and it makes a big psychological divide. Pennsylvania is indeed pretty far east, but that's because it's a long state. Pittsburgh is to the extreme west, right by West Virginia's sticky-uppy bit and Ohio; Philadelphia is practically in the Atlantic. My family's in Centre County, which, if you have a two-page map of the state, is on the fold.
It's such a big, lovely country/half continent.
