It was based on this family that was travelling or on the run and every episode they'd be trying to settle somewhere new, there was always a problem. One particular episode that stands out is where they try to settle somewhere women are dominant, either the son or the father gets in trouble for taking off their shirts. I think they were whipped

Was it like a sci-fi type of show or action or drama... It seems vaguely familiar...

I think it was sci fi type of show but I'm not sure. I wish I could remember more but then my family claim that we never watched anything vaguely like it.
