Have your 4 Marla books and was really looking forward to book 5. Am really enjoying reading Marla the early years each week. I don't know if you are getting many donations but if you are, could you consider doing book 5 in the same way? Would really hate to think that we are not going to hear from Marla again.
I'm exploring my options for book 5. I doubt I'd do it exactly this way -- for one, I'd want it to be completely written before I started posting any chapters, unlike Bone Shop, which I'm writing on the fly -- but some kind of reader-funded serialization is possible. We'll see. I'm going to take at least a few months off from the Marlaverse after Bone Shop is done, though.
Just another week until we hear from Daniel again... Could you maybe give us a hint as to which book he was in?
By the way, I've started a sort of side-project in addition to my VICE series, pretty much inspired by Marla Mason. It's basically an urban fantasy series, and although I only have a page and a half of a short story done, I think it could go far. It's about a small-time sorcerer, working name Elric Aleistor, and his adventures. I'm not sure really what the series is about yet--all I know is that he lives in a new-age bookstore/cafe with a woman named Bethany, and that they were apprentices together until their master was killed. Oh yeah, and Elric has a magical necklace with a spirit trapped inside, who knows all about Elric's mysterious past. I'm experimenting with writing in first-person perspective, which I don't usually do, and it's pretty fun.
Patience, patience -- Daniel's previous appearance will be revealed in chapter 18 (and mentioned explicitly in the notes then), which is going up on October 26.
