Bad News

Got the bad news this morning that my publisher won't be doing more books in my Marla Mason series. Crappy economy plus okay-but-not-great sales made them decide to end the series.

I'm pretty depressed.

I don't blame them; from a numbers point of view, they did what they had to. Times are tough. And, hey, I got to write four books in this series

Jeez, that's pretty bad. I'm seriously sorry that you might not be publishing any more Marla. Just remember that you have all of your fans.
For what it's worth, I've begun planning a Marla Mason fanfic, which I'll start writing after NaNoWriMo, after I finish the book I'm working on (probably next month). The cliffhanger in Spell Games got to me so much that I decided I had to know what happens next, so I decided I'd write it myself. I'm wondering how similar my ideas and yours might be...

Fanfic! Exciting! I will not read it (if my ideas ARE similar it'll seem like I stole them from you, so it's best to avoid even looking!), but it's cool to know it'll be out there!

I love Marla too. I love hanging out with her when I'm reading the books. Question is, is SHE sad that you're not stalking her anymore? ;)

That bucks big donkey @ss balls! I really love the books, turn my friends on to them every chance I get, and wait for the new ones eagerly. I so wanted to know what Marla does next. I really hope you submit to a new publisher, or self publish or something. A world without Marla will be very boring indeed. I am really very sorry.
