So we saw the OB today. Everything is fine, we saw baby again. I saw it move!! As he was moving the ultrasound thing around he paused and it lifted its head up and then back down again. Crystal says she didn't see it, but I'm sure of what I saw ( Read more... )

I was told it is better to book the 20week ultrasound at around 20-21weeks by a ultrasound tech as they get a much better view of everything then at 18-19 weeks.

Also If I may be so bold why are you deciding to only see a midwife and not an OB? Are you aware if you go to the hospital for scans you won't get films, but to been seen at Castlereagh imaging you NEED a referal from a OB. They won't accept referrals from the clinic.

It was Crystals decision to see a midwife instead of an OB, but from yesterday after the appointment with the OB she changed her mind. So we will be seeing an OB throughout.

Ah fair enough then. I know it is personal choice, and I'm all for which ever decision the mother takes, because she needs to be comfortable, but I was curious as to why she had made the decision.

Personally I would rather see the OB, why? Because he has been my treating doctor for 2 years, he has previously operated on me, and in ridiculously comfortable with him, not to mention I personally feel he takes the time to listen and answer questions. Mine even gave me his home and mobile numbers incase of emergency.

My next question for you, are you having a private or public hospital birth? Have you discussed the pros and cons?

Personally I'm completely covered by private health insurance, so I will be delivering and staying at Tamara. This is my personal choice, I do not like the base's maternity ward, I do not like their nurse/midwife to patient ratio and I'd rather stay at Tamara where my husband can spend the night with me also (there rooms actual hold a double bed, so the father of the child can spend the night)

Yeah, that's understandable.

We're probably just going to do a public hospital birth, baring any coplications that arise (though it's unlikely). Haven't actually discusses pros/cons, but we'll probably do that closer to the birth if it comes up at all. Though we'll only do private if some rare complication comes up where she needs the specific care, otherwise we'll be just staying at home till the contractions come. And not the fake ones mind you, lol :)
