Eh, personally I thought both artwork look good, but then again, I can't really see the details up close ^^; The car seems to be lacking an actual shadow, it feels like? I mean the car's shadow on the ground XD;
imho, I wouldn't do Tron -- it's got this superclean Apple-type design, and while it's possible to dirty it up I'd rather just cop out and do something organic that I can copy more easily XD;
Ya that's what Ivan said too --- the car's shadow on the ground wasn't dark enough ^^; But he said don't make the ? silhouette? of the shadow too sharp, or it'll look like got rock underneath XD;
And there's the bit about the depth too (for background)
Compo > now I find that it's hard to imagine Tron in a sketchy-pencil effect XD; When you say organic, what movie/film you have in mind? :)
Well, right now there doesn't seem to be ANY shadow on the ground under the car at all ^^;
Organic : I just meant anything that wasn't all clean lines and silicon like Tron XD; But if you really want to go for it, I think aiming for an "old", "vintage" or "dirt-encrusted" sort of mood suits airbrush reallly well (you can add a lot of splatter). Something like Pirates of the Caribbbean, From Hell, Grey Gardens, etc. Alice in Wonderland or Sherlock Holmes or Stardust should work too. Haven't seen enough of Black Swan to comment though. I wouldn't recommend horror movies (too dirty, too easy to overdo it and end up with too much black ^^; )
Yup, that, and the lack of contrast too - I don't have dominant bright or dominant dark areas now =w=; Gonna add on the layers until I have enough dark areas and enough highlights (since KS bising-ed we need contrast = nice picture...)
Movies > Yeap, I'm steering clear of horror movies XD; (zombies' gonna be a pain to colour! DX) and also steering clear of epic-but-difficult ones like Transformers 8D;;;
when all else fails, I'll most prolly go with Alice in Wonderland XD;
Black Swan, some of the mags had early previews but mostly in-progress shots >w<;;; It contain somewhat a bit horror too (psychosexual is the label the movie carries), and it's actually thrilling to find the lady half-morph into a black-swan monster (complete with claws and wings 8D;;;)
But when you mention "vintage", Moulin Rouge comes to mind 8D;; Ima seeing if the local Borders carries any film books / visual guides ^^;
