I know that a lot of the people on the ship come from rougher places than I do, and a lot of you have done some pretty--uhm--dangerous things.

[That isn't the word he wanted to use, but he'd rather not piss off any murderers aboard by using the word "terrible" to describe their actions.]So...I have some questions ( Read more... )

dangerous?, questions, chevalier day, curiousity killed the--never mind, shipwide announcement, restrictions

[The comm is picked up, but the speaker hesitates a moment before saying anything.]

I have.

Why... do you want to know?

[Yeah, like he's gonna just tell someone he doesn't know at all that apparently eight years ahead in his world he kills three people. After being conditioned very carefully to never even hurt one.]

Suffice it to say I'm...curious? I'm about fifteen, sixteen percent cat, I get curious.

[Another pause.]

You're... sixteen percent... what?

...Cat. Feline. If you're from Earth, the specific breed is Felis Catus Coeruleus, and my human genetics are primarily Russian.

But it's actually more varied than the percentage rate denotes, it's not like there's a whole chunk of my DNA that's feline. It's bits and pieces all over.

Depends on what?

missmimmi January 18 2010, 16:35:59 UTC
The person who died. And the reason they were killed.

tanksthetic January 18 2010, 17:55:13 UTC
But--okay, what if it was a person everyone really liked, but they did something horrible? Does that make killing them unforgivable? Or what if it was a terrible person, but they were killed just because there was an opportunity?

How directly are we talking about?

tanksthetic January 18 2010, 08:32:13 UTC
You, personally. You held the gun or the knife or--or whatever, or did it with your bare hands.

You did it, and you watched it happen.

Not that I'm saying you did, but...if you have.

That must be a little weird.

["Little" is not the word.]

How does that even work?
