[North is sitting on deck one. Yes, the very top of the ship. He's on the edge, legs hanging over the side and arms on the railing, looking out at the ocean. Sure looks placid, huh? That's wrong somehow

[Bryn had been making a point of getting out more. She'd become too content to wake up, eat, and head to the library, and remain firm in her habits. Helping Blitz with the tournament definitely helped get her mind on other things, and interacting with people again, but it wasn't enough to push her out of her room often enough, so she forced herself to go somewhere at least once a day.
Today, it was deck one. She stepped out onto the surface and looked around, finding immediately she wasn't the only one there. It only took her a moment to notice the ears and tail that were far from human, and curious, she approached the sitting passenger.]
[North's ears twitch slightly when Bryn approaches, and slant in her direction when she speaks. He turns his head to look back at her, blinking oversized amber eyes while his eyes readjust to a closer focus.]
[Somebody wasn't a happy camper. That wasn't much of a smile, though he got points for effort of course. Bryn sat down at the edge of the deck like North had and leaned on the railing. She took a moment to admire the view from the deck before turning back to North.]
I'm Bryn. Don't think we've met...
[She held out a hand to shake, giving him a friendly smile. He seemed down and Bryn was happy to offer her company.]
[Ripa, inherently violent being that he is, is having a harder and harder time finding ways to keep himself from boredom on this ship. So today, he's been poking his head around other decks, seeing if there's anything interesting.
Imagine his surprise when he sees this new North; quite physically different than the one he previously knew. His curiosity gets the better of him and he approaches North.]
You seem troubled. I suppose that is a natural reaction to being onboard this ship.
[North turns when he hears Ripa coming--those are some pretty heavy steps, a lot of strain in the floor. And...well, he stares. In shock. His ears slant back and his eyes go wide and he STARES.
But then the voice registers, he's heard that voice before, and he does his best to push off that shock--and hint of terror, because Ripa is fucking scary--and respond properly.]
[You really do know all about him. He shrugs and looks out at the water again. You're scary, Ripa, he's gonna try to avoid looking at you for the moment.]
If you knew me during the stutter phase, my age rate would have slowed down already. I'm pretty average now--just...ahead.
[North turns at the click-click-clicking, and blinks. That's a dog. North doesn't have a problem with dogs, contrary to his mother species' opinion, but...that dog is talking.
The dog is talking.
Is there some hypocrisy here? Maybe. But he's never seen a canine Pet that didn't degrade, and Thom is definitely not mostly human. So this is weird. Not bad, just...weird.]

Maybe, I don't...really know. Someone told me I've been here before, so I guess we might have.
[CONFUSING UGH.]
I'm North. It's nice to meet you.

Y...Yeah. Pretty much.
[He smiles a little.]
You're Arbiter, right? The Arbiter.
[Nervous chuckle.]
Whatever.

[Awwwkward pause; he doesn't really make conversation that often, as you can probably imagine.]
You have... grown since you were last here. I assume this is part of your genetic modification?

His nose twitches. Smells like "human," but different.
Oh hey, it's a guy with furry ears and a long tail. Thom hasn't seen many of those since home!]
Hi!
