Title: Wedding photo (I)
Pairings: Eunhae
Ratings: PG
Summary: Eunhyuk's back, to be Donghae's best man, one last time.

He straightened up abruptly, bringing the camera down from his eyes. Staring at the dressed couple in front of him, he smiled quietly to himself, satisfied with another job well done. He walked forward, shaking hands with the groom, and congratulating the bride on their impending marriage ceremony. After they left to change back into their own clothes, he sighed, sinking down into the comfy chair that was initially placed for photoshoot purposes. He couldn't care less, he was tired and was desperately in need of a rest.

"Yah, Sungmin. The next couple is dressed and ready for their photo shoot. You up to it now?" Yesung peeped into the studio, glancing at the position Sungmin was in. He walked over, patting Sungmin on the shoulder, gripping it slightly, sending his warmth and encouragement through his touch.

"This is the last couple Sungmin. We need this money to take care of our parents." Yesung smiled down at his younger brother. "Who knew you were such a talented kid, taking photographs, and now you are all famous, with so many couples wanting you to be their photographer?" Yesung mused wistfully. Sungmin glanced up at his brother, raising his eyebrows. He elbowed Yesung in the side, tickling Yesung slightly in the process. He nodded to his hyung, signaling that he was ready for the next couple.

Sometimes, Sungmin wondered. Working with all the happy couples that were stepping into his studio, laughing and chatting, how many of them would actually leave this studio, and continue to be together for the rest of their lives, smiling blissfully and sinking back, relaxed, whispering into each other's ears, sitting down and sipping tea, while looking at the stars in their own world. Sungmin was skeptical, doubtful. He had never once fallen into love, and he doubt that his opinion on love would aid him any further. He raised slowly from the chair, cradling the camera that was hanging from his neck softly, checking the film.

Sungmin raised his gaze as one person walked into the room, fidgeting with his bowtie nervously, back facing Sungmin. Sungmin raised his eyebrows, and wondered at the anxiety of that guy. He assumed that he was the groom, and walked over to have a better look, in order to better portray what he wanted to through those photographs taken. Sungmin raised his hand in order to capture the attention of the supposed groom. The man in question immediately sensed the movement and turned back, staring right into Sungmin's eyes, jolting Sungmin and halting his tracks. The man raised his eyebrows questioningly, before relaxing when he saw the camera hung around his neck. He politely lifted his hand, slightly inclining his head.

Sungmin felt slightly affronted by this stranger in front of him, but nevertheless, he grasped the hand and pumped it up and down, not wanting to appear rude to his customers. The man quickly introduced himself.

"I'm sorry. I'm Eunhyuk." The man smiled at Sungmin, relief easing into his features slowly. Sungmin nodded, and pointed to the chair for the man to sit down into. Eunhyuk widened his eyes at Sungmin, shaking his head furiously, while offering Sungmin the seat. Sungmin smiled, unable to hide his surprise and amusement. He walked back to the front of the room, while waiting for the bride to make her entrance. Sungmin noticed that Eunhyuk was muttering to himself, and strained his ears a bit to attempt to hear what Eunhyuk was whispering to himself.

"It's impossible....how could he even see me?" Eunhyuk muttered under his breath. Sungmin raised his eyebrows questioningly to himself, frowning at the man who was pacing to and fro in the room. He quickly dismissed the thoughts as the bride walked in, accompanied by another man, who was wearing a beautiful tuxedo cut to fit him perfectly. The bride was simply radiant, with a smile that could light up the whole room. Sungmin stared at the couple, it was obvious that those two were the couple instead. He swung his gaze towards Eunhyuk, who stared back at Sungmin, motioning to him to remain silent. Sungmin frowned even harder, and opened his mouth to question Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk hurriedly raised his hand and pointed to the door, motioning, before walking out of the room. Sungmin gave the couple a polite smile, before leaving the room.

Eunhyuk was pacing to and fro in the other room again, while Sungmin stared, curious. Eunhyuk sighed suddenly, turning around so quickly and he was suddenly standing in front of Sungmin, who widened his eyes at the movement. "How did you even..." Sungmin asked, only to be cut midway by Eunhyuk.

"Please, Sungmin-shi, help me this one last time." Eunhyuk looked up, begging with his gaze. "I'm....I'm here to fulfill my promise this last time. For the last time. I promised the groom that I will be standing next to him in the wedding photos, standing at the altar, waiting for him. He doesn't know about my presence here now, because I refuse to let him see me. He is happy now, which is what I want. His happiness, with or without me, is enough for me. And I am content that he has moved on, and carried on with his life. So, now that he is getting married, I'm here to do this duty, to be here as his best man, to seal this memory for him, peacefully, and the way he would have wanted, under this circumstances." Eunhyuk mumbled quietly, before turning away from Sungmin, evidently choking on his emotions. Sungmin froze, before hesitantly nodding his head, wondering at the weird man. He took a few steps to enter the studio again, just to be stopped by a sentence.

"And Sungmin,, during the photoshoot, please do not talk or try to communicate to me at all." Eunhyuk said. Sungmin's hand froze, halfway up to reach for the doorknob, before hesitantly agreeing.

------------

"Very good. Can the bride please raise her head a little and look at the corner of the room? And the groom, please look at the bride." Sungmin called out directions, noticing that Eunhyuk was standing at the side of the room. The groom smiled at Sungmin, saying, "Photographer, please call me Donghae.", before the bride reclaimed his attentions. Sungmin nodded politely, snapping photos of the couple bit by bit, capturing every moment into eternity.

"One last photo, and we will finish this photoshoot. The bride and the groom, can you two stand together straight, and please look into my camera." Sungmin called out. He opened his mouth to ask the best man at the side to stand beside Donghae, but Eunhyuk raised a finger in warning, motioning to the other two present in the room. Remember your promise Sungmin felt the statement sweeping through his mind, shocked. Eunhyuk quietly walked across the room and stood beside Donghae, smiling widely, showing off his gums to the camera. Sungmin raised his hands, and placed his eye to the camera, positioning it perfectly. The last shot, always the most beautiful, the most captivating, the most mesmerizing, in Sungmin's opinion. His finger pressed down on the button, sealing this moment forever, noting down the hint of a glint in Eunhyuk's eyes.

---A week later----

"Yah Sungmin! The photos for last week photo shoots are here! Take a look at the last couple! There are really really compatible!" Yesung smiled widely at his brother, bouncing into the studio, nearly knocking a table over in the process. Sungmin smiled at the amount of happiness that his brother was emitting, grabbing the envelope filled with photos out of his brother's hands. He quickly flipped through them, hurrying to the last couple. The couple really looked good together, and Sungmin smiled, proud of his own handiwork. He shuffled to the last photo, where he especially remembered Eunhyuk in it, that weird guy who asked him to help him do his last promise to Donghae. He gazed at the photo again, rubbing his eyes, and looked down at the photo again.

The couple was smiling widely and blissfully into the camera, but there was only the two of them.

Sungmin froze, staring carefully at the necklace Donghae was wearing around his neck. A pendant shined brightly in the photo, something that Sungmin had not noticed before. He rubbed the photo, bringing it even closer to his eyes. There was a word there, but his mind refused to process it.

"Yesung arh, help me look at this. What is it?"

"Sungmin? Your eyesight is deteriorating really fast." Yesung chuckled to himself. "Can't you see?" Yesung paused expectantly, while Sungmin hesitantly shook his head. Yesung sighed theatrically, grabbing the photo from Sungmin's hands to take a look.

"I think it says....

Eunhae forever." Yesung mumbled. "I wonder who is Eun...the bride has a Eun in her name does she?"

"Oh wait, there's something small at the bottom of the pendant. I think it says....

Eunhyuk, in my memories." Yesung said, glancing at his brother, who looked stricken.

Remember your promise

I'm back to fulfill my last duty, my last promise

Don't talk to me during the photoshoot

How can he even see me?

The thoughts ran rapidly through Sungmin's mind, and instantly connected in a blink of an eye. He grabbed his coat that was hanging on a chair, motioning that he would get back to his brother as soon as possible, before dashing out onto the street.

------------

Sungmin panted slightly as he stopped in front of the gates of this mansion, having ran all the way from the traffic junction, where there was a jam. He could not stop this feeling in his heart, it was bursting, nearly cutting off all his emotions. Now, he stood in front of Donghae's house, gazing and gulping down nervously. He pressed the intercom, and was greeted by a female's voice. After explaining his intent, he was then allowed into the house.

A maid greeted him when he stepped into the house, and quickly brought him to a room, motioning to him to sit down and wait for a few minutes before Donghae joined him. Sungmin fidgeted nervously, unable to remain calm with the current happenings. He stood up and explored the house, walking from room to room, eager to find Donghae immediately. Sungmin paused outside one of the rooms, hearing Donghae's voice float out from within.

"Yah, I'm getting married." Donghae stated simply. Sungmin pushed the door a little wider, and a crack appeared. He quickly squeezed his face into the door to peek at the room, to notice Donghae on the balcony, raising his face to the wind that was blowing into the room, smiling peacefully at the warm rays of the sun.

"Yah, you always said you will be the sun, floating alongside with the clouds, and watching whatever I do down here right? Your final words to me was to find someone else who could give me the same amount of happiness as you did to me. I think I found someone, who managed to even lift me out of my depression. I love her now, and I have finally moved on. I still remember you, and she doesn't mind, and she understands me. I hope you give me your blessings.

Do you remember our promise? When we were just 21, and already 2 years into our relationship, we promised each other that we would marry, and no matter the objections that we had to go through, we would face them till the end? Never did I expect that the objections were not only from our parents, but there was also divine intervention. Never did I expect that you would be diagnosed of leukemia, just two days after my proposal, and half a year away from our engagement. Those days were hard, when you left me. I cried myself to sleep, sometimes hating you for leaving me so soon by yourself, without taking me along with you. Those days were the hardest, until I met her. I'm now happy, but I still remember you. I miss you." Donghae said, a small smile gracing his features.

Sungmin dropped the photos on the floor, stunned. Donghae hurriedly turned around to face Sungmin, his smile growing wider, as he welcomed the photographer into the room. Sungmin bent down to pick up the photos, while Donghae knelt beside him, smiling sheepishly.

"You heard what I said previously?" Donghae asked. Sungmin nodded, unable to trust himself to speak. "You surprised?" Donghae asked quietly again, adopting a calm tone. Sungmin shook his head furiously, raising his head to meet Donghae's eyes, in order to let Donghae see the honesty in him. He handed the photos over to Donghae, apologising profusely, bowing towards his customer, before walking down the corridor out of the house.

What had surprised him wasn't what Donghae had mentioned everything earlier. What surprised him was Eunhyuk's expression.

Eunhyuk smiling peacefully at the back of his lover, with his face turned up to the clouds to converse with Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk walking slowly but surely towards Donghae, placing his left hand over Donghae's right on the window still, looking up to enjoy the scenery together. Eunhyuk whispering and mouthing I love you, softly, into Donghae's ears, while Donghae continued on, without noticing the expression of love. Eunhyuk turning around and bowing, thanking Sungmin for helping him complete the last desire he wanted to do. Eunhyuk hugging Donghae, and then letting him go, brushing Donghae's hair out of his eyes carefully, while Donghae thought it was the wind. Eunhyuk finally pressing his lips on to Donghae's cheeks, before drawing back, with the hint of tears in his eyes, before disappearing and fading into nothingness.

Sungmin stopped in his tracks, walking back towards Donghae. Donghae's eyes widened as he saw his guest re-enter the room again. As Donghae opened his mouth to speak, Sungmin closed his eyes tightly, and spoke before Donghae.

"And Donghae. Eunhyuk really loved you. He came back for you. He really does love you. And he is happy for you, that you have found yourself another companion. And he wishes you all the best, and he wanted so badly to be your best man..." Sungmin said, his voice slightly trembling as he remembered what he had done for Eunhyuk. He took in a deep breath. "He really embodied the meaning and purpose of love. And.....all I wanted to say is, he really loves you, and he will be watching over you, praying for you, wishing for you." Sungmin stated, before he left the room again, tears streaking down his face, leaving Donghae to stare in shock after him, as Donghae was sure he had never even once mentioned Eunhyuk's name in Sungmin's presence at all. He whirled around, staring at the balcony, gripping the window still so tightly that it seemed as if it could almost break in his hands.

"Eunhyuk, you came back? You....remembered our promise?" Donghae cried towards the sky.

Sungmin heard the cry, and he couldn't hold it in any longer. It wasn't just a simple thank you from Eunhyuk anymore, Eunhyuk had taught him one of the biggest lessons in his life.

Never once had he thought that love could be so powerful and strong, and there was such a story and experience of love, that shook Sungmin deeply and changed his perception on love.
