Shoot me now. Actual conversation at work:Me: Wow. Crosby, Stills and Nash already sold out for June 12 at Chateau Ste. Michelle.
Coworker: Whoever he is. Me: ... Crosby, Stills and Nash. [Bringing up our CSN artist page]
Coworker: OK, whoever they are. Me: [boggling] You are kidding.

I guess you don't have any Fleet Foxes fans among your cow-orkers. Mykonos sounds more like CSN than CSN does.

I work at a high school.

I got "Cultural Literacy" at the Salvation Army when I was getting stuff for Seven, and I thought it was funny that I did have some significant holes, and the author was bitching about *our* generation. The author's probably crapping his pants now.

wow. I promise I taught my kids, and they did by tickets for Rick and I to see CSNY in New York about seven years ago. (I think it was our Christmas present). But, the context/back drop of the Viet Nam war was part of what makes CSNY great and historical rather than just a 'nice band ( ... )

Wow. "Because the past is just a goodbye" indeed. That's just mind-boggling.

Then again, how many people our generation even know about Kent State? Much less those 20 years younger than we are? To a lot of folks, I guess Vietnam is something involving a box of chocolates, and Doctor Who started in 2005.

Let's face it, we're advanced-level geeks. We've got the +10 Wisdom and +20% on our save against history, but we've also got the road-wear to go with it, and the -10% on our comprehension of "modern" culture.

How old is this coworker? I wonder what the cutoff is and/or how hippie your parents had to be. I was brought up listening to CSN(and sometimes Y), but that is mostly because the only thing my parents DID have in common was a huge music collection. Funny thing is though -- my brother is only 2 years younger than me and I am not sure he would remember CSN as being anything other than "one of those bands my mom liked".
