CSA Week 1

Jun 26, 2008 20:05

A (generous) couple pints of strawberries
1 bunch baby arugula
1 bunch pink beauty radishes
1 bunch red oak leaf lettuce
1 bunch spinach
1 bunch cilantro
1 bunch chives
1 bag garlic scapes
1 bunch bok choy

A very green and leafy week - although the strawberries were astonishingly fragrant, even buried in the box.

I know. the strawberries in our farm share have been fabulous the last two weeks. this week we got two kinds of lettuce, spinach, and cabbage in the box. as well as two different kinds of peas. Looking forward to more of this till the end of October. So, what made you decide to do a CSA?

Three factors, initially:
1) I wanted more fruits and veggies in my diet, just in general
2) A CSA means a certain amount of enforced variety, so I'd occasionally get thrown odd things I wouldn't normally have thought of
3) Convenience - enough of my co-workers subscribed to the same CSA that they used that building as a drop-off and had a champion within the company to act as point-of-contact

This year, I'm in a different building across town, and that CSA stopped doing their "small" option anyway, so I'm trying a new one.
