Whew! I had trouble with Suzie, so I'm relieved to see your comment. She struck me as being a mite feral but I only really saw her when the Glove already had its claws in her, but the hints in TKKS seemed to point to her having issues.
Your portrayal of her is *exactly* as I'd sussed her, given as little real information and background on her as we have available. I saw her as a bit on the paranoid side, very sharp and a bit lacking in the warm-and-fuzzy department. I got the feeling she was a troubled woman for whom Torchwood became an obsession, a means to right some unnamed wrong. The Glove gave her the weapon she needed to feel powerful and in control. IMO, anyway. :)
I think that she may have thought that Torchwood would solve her problems, but she lacked the perception to realise that she needed to want to solve her problems. I sort of get a 'there but for the grace of God' impression with Suzie. But yes, control was a big issue.
I love all of these, they are very insightful. But the Gwen one was my favorite, because she is so off. It really illustrated what I love/hate the most about her, she is so wonderfully compassionate and she truly wants to help people but sometimes she sucks at reading people.
I feel that Gwen has some preconceptions that she brings to her dealings with people. Also she seems ready to accept what is on the surface and doesn't dig deeper unless something hits her in the face. And I still have trouble with her hypocritical attitude at times, so I could see her disapproving of Jack's relationship with Ianto while remaining blind to the impropriety of her own approach.
I love you! I've mentioned that right? I heard this song today and thought to myself - wow what a good song for cyberwoman. I text you and then fic! *punches air*
You're awesome. *big shiny eyes of awe*
It was all great, but I found I really liked Suzie's part. Because she not heartless or completly lost. She's a person and she does care, but you can see the cyinism and obsession that lead her to where she ended up.
Well, it was a Sunday and Jay didn't need the computer and the lyrics were pretty awesome! *grins happily*
I think the problem with Suzie was that she took the wrong path and she lacked the self-perception to realise that it was the wrong path. The Glove fed her obsession for control and the tragedy of it was that I think she was probably as idealistic as Gwen at one point but she didn't have someone like Rhys to ground her and she was too good at hiding what was happening to her. I'm really pleased that you thought it worked!
Poor Suzie. It's sad really because if Gwen had joined eariler she might have noticed Suzie falling. Either that or be dragged down with her, I can never make my mind up.
I'm off monday and tuesday - you want some fic? (apart from the cooking one) *bounces*
I was really impressed with the characterisations here, especially Suzie, as we don't know her very well.
Gwen's did make me laugh but it was so true! She is one of those people, who are in every workplace, they like to be the caring one, who knows what is best for everyone. They also like to announce it, as Gwen does.
Suzie was a tough one, but I hoped I had got her sounding believable. Weirdly enough, I tend to think that she was probably the easiest one for Ianto to cope with, since she had no time for pity or bitchiness.
Gwen... I don't hate Gwen with such a passion any more but I still tend to want to cuff her at least once every other episode. She is so damn sure of herself that she never stops to question what she is doing. I can honestly see her becoming another Suzie at times.
Fragments explained a great deal about Tosh. I have to say I don't tend to write her as quite such a loser as the series portrayed her, but she did seem to have problems with interacting with people and her internal monologue in Adam was very revealing.
