i am obsessed with american history documentaries. especially the PBS ones. the civil war era is my favorite favorite time. not that i'd want to live back then. im getting my abe lincoln tattoo soon. i cant decide if i want it portrait style or one of him shirtless splitting logs. i also want an alexander hamilton tattoo, but im running out of room ( Read more... )

ya gotta do the shirtless version. everybody's got the portrait and you don't strike me as being very conventional!!

how can ya be running outta room? until you're coloring in old tattoos just to experience the feel of the steel you have room. ;P

a friend of mine said he saw, or maybe he drew, abe with an axe splitting logs with a puffed up superhero shirtless chest complete with furry chest hair. im not sure, maybe im just making shit up. if you get bored you should draw that up for me. -wink wink

Oh, by the way, do you know if anyone has ever done a video documentary of John Paul Jones (either PBS or other ) ? He is one of my favorite American Heros, haha, really he is. The following is one reason:
Right before the sea battle off Flamborough Head on the east coast of England on the evening off September 23, 1779, was one of the bloodiest ship to ship duels of the age of sail. When John Paul Jones's Continental Navy ship Bonhomme Richard encountered His Britannic Majesty's ship the Serapis, the Americans were outgunned and faced a newer, faster vessel, not to mention a centuries-old tradition of superiority in the Royal Navy. The two French ships that were accompanying Jones ran in cowardice when Jones made the signal to "Form a Line of Battle". Yet Jones succeeded in locking the British ship in a death struggle and simply refused to surrender. Jones himself lashed the jib boom of the Serapis to the Bonhomme Richard's mizzenmast, enlisting the sailing master, a man named Stacy, to help him make fast the rope. While Stacy ( ... )
