Great to see Emma on form in this chapter, her bevaivour at the dinner was highly entertaining, would have liked to have seen more. I'm surprised she didn't pick up on whatever the vibes between Emily and JJ were.
Makes me feel sad for poor Emily knowing what is coming, as Emma gets further under her skin.
Don't worry, there's definitely going to be more Emma playing to the crowd. The dinner scene is as about as long as the rest of the story before it. We're just breaking it into parts. (If nothing else, we haven't got much past it at the moment.)
Emma has some tact, somewhere, which means that even if she sensed the vibe between Emily and JJ, she probably isn't going to bring it up right now. Unless she decides that it amuses her to do so. :)
Very fun chapter and a very good time was had by all (except perhaps for Emily). I can just see Garcia taking Emily aside the next day grilling her about her lady 'friend'; Morgan ribbing her about her 'guy' in the break room; and Reid coming up with a statistic about the number of lesbians in the FBI.
I do have to wonder if, at some point, Emily is going to try to track down some of Emma's friends for a get together, just for some well earned revenge.
I just spent all of last night and this morning catching up with your Emma/Emily fics and I gotta say - I absolutely love them! I'm sad now that I've read everything published so far, but I'll survive somehow as I still have more to look forward to. I must admit though that I love reading things from Emily's perspective a bit more. Not that I didn't like it when it was the other way around, but even though I do like Emma as well, Emily is more of a soft spot for me. Still I think you're doing a terrific job with this pairing and the stories about them and you should definitely keep it up. I like the mirroring style, it's not something you encounter every day and I do love original writing, your characterisations are spot on and the relationship between these two is absolutely delightful. I hope your Emma/Emily muse doesn't abandon you soon as I'd really like to read more from you.
We're glad to hear you enjoyed our little tales. Thanks for sharing.
It's probably just as well you like Emily's perspective. The way this story (well, trilogy of stories now) is ballooning, there's going to be quite a bit of it. :)
Emily's kind of interesting to write. She's so introspective that I actually end up writing quite a bit of the character construction I thought of behind the scenes, just because that's the way she thinks. Unlike Emma, who has a habit of very determinedly ignoring anything she doesn't want to deal with.
It does have to be said, we've been a little crap in the last few weeks about writing. (We attended a con last weekend, and we had to do writing and preparation for that.) The next few weekends aren't looking immensely good either, but we do have 7-8K of words that are mostly done, so we hopefully shouldn't have to interrupt our current weekly updates for a little while yet.
Really glad to hear I have more of Emily's perspective to look forward to. :) I like that we can see things through both Emma and Emily's eyes and really love the fact that you write them in a different yet similar manner, because they're both different and very similar in certain respects at the same time. All in all I just love your writing, you two are doing a spectacular job together. That's why I'm willing to wait as long as necessary for updates. They'll be worth the wait I'm sure, at least considering the speed with which I gobbled up what you had written so far. Oh, and by the way you two and nike_ravus have ruined me for all the other Emily fics out there. I was never a fan of the Emily/JJ pairing to begin with (Emily deserves better!) and now Emma seems like such a good and obvious choice that I can't make myself read about Emily with anyone other than her. So yeah, I'll wait for the next chapter and anything else you might decide to write with these two, because I really can't bring myself to read anything else right now.
And of course you have to blame Nike_ravus for us writing Emma/Emily fix in the first place, even if we do have sonewhat different takes on the characters
( ... )
I keep coming back to your journal, hoping you've posted more. I had just tripped over this fabulous series the other night when you posted this bit, and I'm shamefully addicted.
*sigh* This is why I don't normally read something before it's way finished.
Glad you're enjoying the story! Alas, I'm not quite happy with the next part just yet, but, if it helps, I am intending to continue posting every Wednesday. (At least until we finish Falling. There might be a bit of a gap before we start the next part.)
