Spring: it is SPRING! Last night I saw itty bitty baby leaves on a tree and this morning the cherry trees have started exploding and the willows are hazy with green and oh my god guys! you guys! It's SPRING. I want to go cavorting and gamboling and frolicking because it is SPRING!
What I really should do is open all the windows in the house and clean everything, which I may do on Sunday. But I thought you would want to know that the yearly predictably miracle has occurred and there is stirring and life and joy outside.
Dress: Got all the inserts in last night, hemmed it, and started the runching. I still need to do a bit more, because it's still on the floor and looks uneven, but I think I've got the basics covered.
Here, have today's blurry pictures (post panels, pre-runch, and fuzzy as hell because it's really hard to take a picture of your own back).
A view of the back of the dress with added grommets and laced up
same, but showing the puddles of extra fabric. The inserts didn't add any length to it, so it was already this far past my feet, but it gives me more width to play with.
All that's left is some more runching and to fix the armholes on the vest and it's done. However, this is an afternoon wedding, so I'm debating if maybe I should just wear the other dress anyway, as this may now be too fancy for an afternoon wedding, and this just becomes my ballgown for going to ball dances.
In non-dress project news, I appear to have developed a little problem with buying fabric. Last night I dyed nine yards of cotton gauze a very nice shade of red-brown. This stuff is a pretty loose weave and light stuff, so I'm not quite sure what to do with it now that I've got it a nice color. What would you make out of nine yards of cheesecloth?
