I was following the news really closely yesterday as Kosovo was planning to declare independency on Dec 10th, but apparently it didn't happen just yet. I've got travel plans for Serbia/Kosovo/Albania for next September so that makes me twice as interested in the situation :)
I have to admit that I've never quite grasped what it is about Kosovo that makes Serbia hold on to it so fiercely. After all, they just 'gave up' Montenegro without too much hassle, so what is it that makes Kosovo so different that they have to fight about it? I really need to read more on this issue someday. Balkan history is interesting but so damn complex for an outsider to try to understand!
I've been reading out this too. It's so much more interesting now that I've been sorta' close to the place. The most far out part to me is the Bill Clinton statue.

I know! That's what makes it so exciting to me. Maybe I'll try to take some kind of Balkan history class one of these days.
