yesterday, little boo peep was given her first pair of boots; a necessity for surviving in both england and western norway. we took her to the rain-drenched park to try them out. boo had fun examining grass and twigs and many different birds; but one of them made me stop. it didn't look quite like a proper bird. instead, it looked like how i ( Read more... )

Yayy!! Well done. My success rate for saving little flightless birds stands at about 50%.
Boo peep sounds very helpful, as little boo peeps usually are..
Were the boots waterproof?
(My kiddies gumboots always smelled heavily of urine - they were waterproof from the outside, but whatever ran down their legs found a safe home in their gumboots.)

Exactly. They lived outside (the gumboots, not the kids - though the thought crossed my mind more than once} and I washed them with soapy water when I could - not easy when the ground is flooded 7-8 mths of the year...

lol! i haven't been able to test them in *that* way -- but in my world, "boots" means only one thing, namely waterproof ones. they would have kept her feet completely dry if she hadn't lost one of them whilst being lifted up from a puddle...
