What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: Philadelphia

Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard.

I think it's silly to lump all of the people in the Inner North as one accent. We may have certain characteristics and pronunciations in common, but a Detroiter, a Chicagoan, a Minnesotan, and a Wisconsin... ite(?) don't have the same accent. Hell, I don't even have exactly the same accent as my aunts and uncles from Flint, and I certainly don't sound like a Yooper.

I was once asked if I was Canadian, though. But that was by a sales clerk at a Bloomingdales in Chicago, when I was travelling with a friend from Bath, England. Lord knows, my accent was probably completely askew.

I couldn't have said it better. They need more categories!

It's funny how people pick up shades of accents, isn't it? I spent a summer on Long Island during college, and I sounded so silly!
