Why I love Tel Aviv

I took myself to the "World Press Photo" exhibition yesterday. I had the tickets from work, and it was closing so I had to go see it. It was displayed in Dizengof-center, the most Tel Aviv-like mall in the center of Israel. Spent about 3/4 of an hour at the exhibition, most of the time with tears in my eyes. I went to that exhibition with my art course, and the lecturer said something interesting: Not only are the pictures horrifying, they're also very aesthetic. That's why they were selected, of course, but this combination of beauty and real-life violence and destruction just makes it really hard to look at them. It doesn't have any actual news value, it just makes us feel detached from the horrors that are so nicely closed up in frames. It's not terrible human cruelty anymore, it's just plain art. And that's the main problem with those kind of exhibitions, and with news photography in general. Personally, I got out of there on the verge of tears.

And then I went and got myself a Shiatsu treat(ment) from a guy with a special chair. I love the Center too. =)

תמ, פעם שניה השבוע שאני נתקלת בנושא ליאור זיו. הרי הוא היה ידי שלי ואתמול פגשתי את אמא שלו. היה רגע לא קל...

כן, אני מתארת לעצמי. את יודעת שלא ממש הכרתי אותו, אבל אני כן חושבת שהתערוכה הזאת זה דבר טוב - בעיקר כי היא ביטוי למה שהוא אהב ולמה שהוא עשה.
