Honestly? Until this gets Jossed (probably by the next episode) this is totally my head-canon. I love the little mermaid imagery integrated into both pov's - especially the difference between Disney's version and the original. Wow.
So, totally awesome, and I definitely wouldn't object to seeing a sequel to this :)

I totally set aside all of the other prompts that I was supposed to be working on just to get this done before it was jossed. WHEDON! *shakes fist at sky* Because Sunday's episode will totally screw me over. I feel this in my bones.

Ngl, "The Little Mermaid"/The Little Mermaid are like two of my all-time favorite fairy tales. Two... versions of... I don't know how even to say this. I like the original and the Disney, is what I mean; if you haven't read the original in its entirety I totally recommend it. And whenever I do unrequited love, I default to Andersen. He's so delicious for it. Although he actually wasn't creepy like poor Karofsky, to my knowledge. He just moved on to his next "sorry I don't see you that way" person.

THIS IS SUPER LONG I JUST MEAN: Thank you very much for commenting and I'm v. v. glad you liked it! Totally awesome omg i c whut u did thar. I will certainly alert you should a sequel present itself!

OMG, this is just. SO GOOD. I swear I didn't take a single breath for the entire scene where Kurt was on the phone with him. I can't even describe what is so amazing about this story, it would just be a list of everything that happens accompanied by "and that was perfect TOO" after each one. It was so much MORE than I expected it to be--you didn't shy away from or neglect any of the consequences or the things leading up to it. Everything that needs to be here is here. I also find the tiny hints of Blaine very intriguing--he functions almost entirely in relation to the other more well-defined characters, but there's obviously a real person under there.

Okay, going to start with Blaine, because he drives me batshit, I don't even know. I'm so glad he came across as having a real person under there, because I stuck hard to the show-so-far's "perfect person" presentation, and we know that's not going to last because THIS! IS! GLEE! and everyone on it (except Beiste, Burt, and Carole) is an asshole. I'm supposed to write actual Kurt/Blaine soon and I don't even know how I'm going to handle it. I love him to bits but I can't fracking write him as a central character with flaws that aren't just hinted at I just caaaaan't.

BUT ANYWAY YEAH I am super glad you liked everything and found it to be not-shying-away because I kind of feel like it's just too long. Fffff. So thank you very very much, ilu bb!

Did "SLS" help with your Blaine head canon?

I'm still laughing at tiny amazing failbot!Blaine. I definitely like him better than PrinceCharming!Blaine.

YOUR ICON

THEY ARE MY FRIENDSHIP OT3 SINCE THE SUPERBOWL EP BUT THIS ONE MADE IT SO MUCH BETTER

BUT BUT BUT it totally did! I mean, it kind of threw me off - I'd sort of made up a headcanon to try and write with right before the episode which was stupid - but then they were like HERE HAVE MORE LAYERS and I can adapt to this, and aside from trying to get this goddamn fic written, oh. my. god. he's even more adorable, I didn't realize that was possible. Also, can I express my extreme love for the fact that he and Kurt both think power romance ballads in inappropriate settings are the road to romance. THESE BOYS I TELL YOU.

Oh, this was just perfection.

I LOVED Karofsky's connection with Hans Christian Anderson and the juxtaposition of his take on Anderson's original Little Mermaid story with Kurt's Disney version (haha +sequel!) explanation. Reading all of Karofsky's thoughts was completely heartbreaking; even though trying to unintentionally dump the responsibility of his suicide on Kurt was unfair and a bit enraging, you still managed to make him a very sympathetic, three-dimensional character. Hell, you made everyone--including the canonly elusive Blaine--three-dimensional. Bravo. (And it's totally been my personal headcanon that at least one of Blaine's parents is a psychologist/psychiatrist too! It really would explain so much about him.)

All the scenes were written beautifully. I would list my favorite sentences here, but they are all my favorites. ♥ Meming this!

Oh my god. I just realized Hans Christian Andersen and Blaine Anderson have kind of the same last name. TOTES DID THAT ON PURPOSE YO'ALL.

So but yeah, THANK YOU v. much for this! I'm psyched you liked it, and the fairy tale/Disney fun, and that everyone was 3-D up in here. Especially Blaine, omg I don't even know how I'm going to handle the next story I'm supposed to write because he's a main character and he. is. so. hard. And I extra-psyched you liked the writing, omfg.

Also one of Blaine's parents has to be some kind of shrink because seriously. Seriously.

I read the prompt and thought it would take someone really good to do justice to it and not make it into melodrama or apology fic and I was so happy to see you wanted to write it. This was kind of like a punch to the gut (this is a good thing!), especially with the Little Mermaid analogy (some of those fairy tales were screwed up) and the phone call coming right after that delightful scene with David dancing with Kurt. I loved how Kurt kept thinking about how much he didn't want to help even while he was helping and I think you did a really good job with Blaine. Sometimes his characterization in fic goes into frustrating Yoda mode without any authorial indication that it's unrealistic or that no, he really isn't right all the time and that Kurt wants him to be there but doesn't need himself to be talked at all the time. I loved that Blaine's actions with Karofsky were consistent (the psychiatrist thing really does explain so much) and that he also got called an idiot by Kurt (while getting mooned over, good compartmentalization there ( ... )

Ohhh my god thank you. I'm so glad you liked it and it didn't seem too melodrama-y. And, okay, that I gut punched you, being as I am an evil person in that way. And duuude, I love fairy tales but seriously, they are all messed up as hell, even after Disney cleans them up (fifteen years old? leave your family, species, and voice behind for a dude you don't know! it will end well! looks legit ( ... )
