Connor's never really been interested in my music, despite my best efforts to get him into it. The only music that he's showed even a mediocre response to is Bear In The Big Blue House.
Just now, I remembered a band Henry Rollins mentioned last night, called the Bad Brains. I went to look them up on youtube, and started playing this video.

OT, but I know that you are the one to ask: how do I explain to someone why the term "white trash" is offensive? I am, for once, at a loss.

"White trash" is both classist and racist. First, the racism aspect: aside from being offensive against white people, it paints all PoC as being trash, period. "White" is a qualifier, specifying that you're talking about white people; so who is just "trash" in general? Well, anybody who doesn't fit into "white". In other words, PoC.
Second, it's almost entirely used in a classist context, against those who are in the lower socioeconomic classes. You pretty much never see anyone rich getting called "white trash", unless it's in a "he has tons of money and he's *still* white trash" way, which again makes it clear that white trash is associated with poor people.

Try him out with some Rise Against! My favorite band (say hello to the lead singer in my icon, there), and one that I like to call "softcore punk," haha. Amazing lyrics, great beats, and a contemporary punk band that doesn't suck and actually always has great rhythm and catchy songs.
