Following excitement back in May at the demos of Super Mario Galaxy and Red Steel on the Wii, the latter turned out to be a bit shit. Nevertheless praise heaped upon Wii Sports (bundled free with the console) and various friends saying that Twilight Princess was the best thing ever convinced me, so I caved in and bought one on Amazon this morning ( Read more... )

I'm planning to get one in 2007 so report back on how good/bad it is.

Also, maybe buy some of those funky rubber sleeves you can get.

Speaking of bat shit insanity, I adored Opeth. Tell me, what's your take on Amorphis?

To be honest, I've never got on with Amorphis, but they might be right up your street. They started off combining death metal with folk stylings, then moved away from the death metal into more rocky territory, clean singing all the way.

Actually, I might give them another go to see if I've been missing out on anything. :)

Melodic, I don't want so much. It's the growly stuff that I'm interested in exploring, in spite of the fact that I liked Opeth.

Having a brain like a sieve, I can't remember if I've already given you a list of stuff to check out, so here's (another) list of bands in the growly region that I think you should check out (ie the best death metal albums):

On a completely different note, for the melodic stuff you have to listen to Type O Negative's October Rust. :)
