My first memory of my grandfather is when I was six or seven, perhaps, and we lived in Colorado. He's diagnosed with cancer right? Do you know how long he has left? What type of cancer is it? What organs have they spread too? I know these might be personal, but I wanted to know what condition your grandpa (technically my grandpa-in-law, if that word exists) is in. But that aside, it was a really good entry, my mom also loves it.

Yep! A cousin from your moms side of the family; we come and visit every Christmas. I'm Vivian (if you haven't already figured that out) and can you answer the questions that I asked?

I thought so, though I'm sort of surprised how you managed to find me.

He's diagnosed with cancer, yes, no one's given a really good answer as to how long it's been, there's been some sort of metastasis of the cancer (lymphoma, originally, I believe).

And thanks, by the way; I might see you this Christmas.

There is so much in here that feels really important. As I read it, I felt this sense of gratitude that you have written it all down, so that we can remember in other times.
