I think one problem with Bush is that he tries to avoid the media so his message doesn't get out. I think I read that he's had the fewest press conferences among recent Presidents. He should actually take pages out of the McCain playbook and talk to the media all the time. His message will get out there instead of being filtered by the media and his public speaking skills will get better with all the practice. People believe someone more who takes the effort to get out their message rather than relying on their defenders to get out their message.

The Democrat that represents our district calls himself a Blue Dog Democrat... thats supposed to be the term for a Conservative/Moderate Democrat, Bush won most of the votes in this district in 2000 and 2004, I hope I live to see the day where I have a Republican represent me in Congress.

Your Congressman is Allen Boyd? Right? He's not as bad as some other Dems. THey tried to give him a run for his money in 2004 but it didn't turn out like we wanted.

If you want a Republican to represent you, you can always move to another district.

In some elections the public has been known to deliver surprises.

In 1998, during impeachment, everyone thought that the Republicans would gain seats b/c it was the 6th year of CLinton's Presidency and Presidents lose seats in their 6th year, but the Dems gained 5 seats in the House that year.

Yeh well 2002 was a surprise election year because the President's party is traditionally supposed to lose seats in the midterm elections but his party gained seats in the House and Senate.

I don't think that 2002 was a surprise b/c redistricting favored Republicans b/c all the big blue states like NY, PA, IL, NJ lost seats while red states like FL, GA, TX, and AZ gained seats. As for the Senate, I thought that the Republicans would get the 51 seats they needed b/c Wellstone in MN was vulnerable along with Carnahan in MO, and Johnson in SD. Also, you have to consider that it was after the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks and Bush had a 65% approval rating. I think people were also mad at the Dems in the Senate for obstructing everything.

Right now I'm disenchanted with Republicans and Democrats. I hate the Democrats more b/c it seems like most of them are willing to give our country away to the lowest bidder at the UN. They just want us to be the UN's lackey and the UN's bitch and bend over and take it whenever the UN wants us to. The only good Democrats that I can think of are Joseph Lieberman and Ben Nelson. There are probably a couple of other good moderate Democrats but I can't think of them right now ( ... )
