See, I *loved* the GI Joe movie. Excepting what they did to the Baroness' character, it was pretty damn loyal to the cartoon and comics. I loved it so much I even bought some of the toys!
Yeah, I know the accelerator suits were really dumb, but at least there was something similar in SIGMA SIX.
At least they tried with GI Joe, they made an effort to put in back story and some characterisation, so that we had a vague sort of two dimensional idea of who these people were and what they were about.
It was clumsy. But. It was there. Which is more of an effort than most films of this ilk make (Cough, transformers, cough.)
Shame it all rather fell apart on them at the end. The big bad guy randomly decides to destroy his own base? By... dropping ice on it? Did anybody watch the end of that movie and not want to shout at the screen that ice floats?
I did quite enjoy it though. Except for the obvious FIRST OF A TRILOGY nonsense. Because I don't imagine they'll ever make another one.
I did shout about the ice too. Until the third time I saw it, and caught a random line muttered about how the ice is filled with metal corridors and stuff from the base.
There is a sequel in the works, which I'm quite looking forward too. It's not going to be awesome, but hopefully it'll be a laugh that doesn't trash anything from the Joe-verse.
