Madrid Derby

I wouldn't say it was a good match, but it was entertaining. They all lost it a bit there, it's not every day you see Iker having a shouting match with a ballboy. And post-match he was still walking off the pitch (you won Iker! Stop fighting with children!) barking in that direction so I assume the little kid had a gang of other little ballboys and ( Read more... )

If I were an Atletico baby I would be giving him lip the entire match...I'd do the same to Franco.

Awww monkish Vicente speaks.

I'd find it really hard to resist yelling "Drop it! Drop it!" at opportune times. :p I think the Atleti babies words were a bit harsher though.

Vicente speaks! But then has a tendency to get injured and disappear for 6 months afterwards. Er, let's hope that won't happen this time.

Poor Vicente. It can't be easy, having bad hair day photos scattered about the Internet like that. :[ And there's your Villa icon, mocking him with his metrosexual hair perfection.

Poor Atletico - I can see how their supporters would think that they're cursed. An equaliser in the 89th minute and then they still lose? *shakes head*

They'd been celebrating so damn hard too! Only to concede that stupid penalty. Most consistently inconsistent ref of the weekend, I'd say.

Oh, the ref was rubbish. Not biased (as the Madrid papers would have us believe), just rubbish.

I really think it's one of the worst things about La Liga, the insane referees.

Heaps of rubbish. The match was disorganized and confusing as hell. (Which side of Madrid thinks he was out to get them? Both? :p)

I've grown more accustomed to England, where they don't like to give cards at all. This is quite different for me.

Haven't watched the game yet, but from what I've read, it seems to be a really crazy game. Bad ref-ing to be sure. I know derbies are supposed to be more intense/crazy, but 2 red cards, 2 disallowed goals plus a penalty all in one game is just insane.

Oh, it was crazy, and it only got worse as the match progressed. And a penalty for one side in the 89th minute, than another for the other side in extra time was loony tunes. the ref really did seem to like making calls in pairs.

I really think if Ruud hadn't been sent off, the scoreline would've been a lot higher, too.

wow, it was 2 penalties?!?! ya. that's just too much. there's no way he can justify that. The one tonight might get crazy too, with the way the Press are riling people up over Cannavaro's "betrayal". *sigh* why is my team such a drama-magnet?

I'm told it was all a conspiracy against Madrid. That explains everything. :p And today's match, well, they weren't playing all that well, unfortunately. :/ And that Del Piero, he's just a pain in the arse, what with the scoring when he should be over the hill and all. (You love the drama sometimes though! Makes for some fantastic goal celebrations! And melodramatic intra-team relationships!)
