Kairi has already changed out of her school clothes, opting for something more comfortable and beach friendly - shorts and a tank-top. Her uniform is hanging neatly in her bedroom closet.

She watches him dig the hole with a soft smile playing on her lips. He does this every year - this minor act of rebellion. She knows he's been anticipating this moment since the first day of school. For him, this is better than his birthday. She'd never dream of denying him this.

She walks softly across the sand and sits down to the left of the hole.

Oh dear. He's just asking for it, isn't he?

She leans in as though she's going to say something...

...and pushes him into the hole. Gently, of course.

Aaand, Riku ends up with his butt in the mud. He makes a noise of surprise, before scramblng right back up.

"What -- " He starts to ask, his brow furrowing, before he pauses. No, there was no reason to ask... just reason to get revenge!

So he shoves his hand into the mud, before smearing some on her shirt.

Take that!

She'd be lying if she wasn't expecting him to do that - that or something similar.

Still... proprieties must be observed.

She makes an indignant noise, already reaching for a handful of mud of her own. Her initial thought is to go for his hair - after all, it's longer and it would be harder to clean - but she's not that mean.

Instead she smears it on his cheek.

Some of it's close to his mouth, and on an impulse, he sticks out his tongue and licks it away. "Yum," he says, resisting the urge to make a big face. "Just what I needed in my diet."

She wrinkles her nose in distaste.

"Ewwww..." she says, all the while fighting giggles. "Riku, that's disgusting."

"Of course it is," Riku says, sounding proud of himself. His tone implies: 'did you expect anything else?'

He may not have said the words out loud, but she knows him well enough to guess what he was thinking.

"Maybe I expected you to be a gentleman..." she says, crossing her arms at him. This of course, gets even more mud on her shirt - not that she cares.

She gives him the look....which lasts all of maybe 30 seconds.

Then she starts laughing.

Riku laughs, too. "Maybe in an alternate reality," he says, with a bit of a snort. "Being a gentleman is for losers!"

Except for when you were being nice to girls. Then it was okay, even encouraged. But that was just common sense!

"I don't think it's possible for you to be a loser - in any reality." she says truthfully.

She grins. "Maybe I should get Sora to be the gentleman then. You can be a rogue instead..."

"I like that idea," Riku says, smirking. "He can throw down the coats for the girls, while I sweep them off their feet."

She looks at him archly.

"Oh, so you'd sweep me off my feet would you?"

Riku hops to his feet. He stands there, in all of his muddy glory, looking down at her with a smirk.

"I could do it right now," he says. "There's nothing to stop me!"

Maybe she'd like him to. Maybe not.

"I'm not convinced you would." she says.

It's not a dare. Not quite.

"Is that a dare?" Riku inquires, raising an eyebrow. "Because if it is..."

She looks at him - dead on - without saying a word.
