Somehow they were no longer sitting on the log but on the cold sand with their backs against it, legs and feet touching. Both were silent for a moment before Ennis answered.

Tonight I went back and reread Chapter 18, Jack's last visitation to Ennis. I really needed it after the postings on dc about plausibility of a vengeful dead Jack. Maybe there is someone out there with enough anger in them to write such a story, but it would give me no pleasure at all to read it. The line in that scene that moved me most was when Jack said something like "You loved me for 20 years and now you don't want to love no more?" I can't imagine Jack watching Ennis and David here and feeling resentful or sorry for himself.

I noticed that Nathan's story didn't exactly mirror Ennis' history with Jack. In some areas it wavered back and forth and I liked that. I can see why it took you so long to produce these chapters and I feel it was worth the wait. But I hope it won't be another year before we find out what happens next. :)
