It was still early but Ennis had known the Black and Blue Eagle Bar would be busy.  As he got out of his truck and watched David close the door of his anonymous-looking rental car, Ennis wondered how the hell he’d gotten into this: two men walking into the bar together and wearing suits at that. And one of "them….

I really like what you are doing here. I hope the riding lessons prove to be interesting. And it's nice to see that David seems interested and not only interested, but breaking through a bit of Ennis's exterior.

Nice use of "Melissa" as well...poor Ennis.

It's interesting too that he feels Jack now, again in his bed. That was quite sweet, and a bit sad as well.

Looking forward to more of this wonderful story!

I'm just getting into this new series and I have to say I'm really intrigued. It's very, very well written and very compelling. I've seen other stories involving Ennis and someone other than Jack but this is the first one that's seemed realistic, plausible and sensitive enough to me. Keep writing!

Thanks! Someone with Ennis' low startle point does take some careful handling ( ... )

I've only just come across this story and I wanted to say how much I am enjoying it. Especially moments like Jenny's song at the wedding and Ennis getting lost in thought in the bar - such beautiful and poignant scenes. And then this image, which made me cry: Ennis hung the suit in the closet, ready for another wedding or funeral whenever that might be, picked up one sleeve of the shirts on the door and held it for a long time, his thumb rubbing the worn cuff of Jack’s blue sleeve underneath his own. This is so true and I can see him standing there like that so many times over the days and years.

Your Ennis is wonderful and I hope he's going to find some happiness soon in whatever form you choose to write it! Thank you for sharing this story :)

There are two more chapters as of yesterday - Chapter 6 kind of angsty as Ennis is going through changes, but the story doesn't stay in that much longer.

Thanks for the encouragement - hope you like the rest of it!
