[12] I shall gladly take him~talks_to_nisseJuly 19 2012, 22:43:27 UTC
Sindre sighed against the glass. Of all the curses out there, he often felt that being trapped as a mirror-slave was the worst one to be afflicted with. Never aging, he would be trapped in this not-realm for eternity, forever recalling what it was like to actually live, forever doomed to merely watching.
It was even worse when you were discarded. True, Sindre could go to any reflected surface, but without being called or charged he couldn't interact with anyone. At least when he was being used he had a purpose, a challenge. And it was simply undignified, his mirror covered with a thick cloth, hidden and forgotten in the back corner of an attic.
It made it worse that he had been such a skilled mirror-slave, too. Him, cast aside! His sense of skill wasn't mere ego; he had been quite powerful in his own right when he was trapped in the glass, and that power carried over. Furthermore, where other mirror-slaves ignored and looked down upon the little mirrorlings that skittered about in their not-realm, Sindre had befriended them

It was dark in the heart of the mountain. Dark, and totally, crushingly quiet, so that the sound of the water seeping from a gap in the stone seemed to fill the cave

Sindre had been away from his mirror when it must have been uncovered, but the question still trickled down to him, seeking him out within the non-realm. He didn't care that he wasn't bonded to the querent; a question was a question, which meant a momentary end to boredom

She knew it was rude to stare, but... that man was talking to a fish. Or at least the fish was talking to the man. Either way, there was fish-conversing going on, and Remy thought that was a pretty good excuse to stare for a few moments. She'd just been buying a new toy for Hudson at the pet store, she glanced over at the wall of aquariums and suddenly...
Fish. Talking. Wishes, or something.
"Um..." She wasn't sure why she whispered and leaned closer, the fish was closer to the man than she was, and she was probably hallucinating in the first place. But still, she kept her voice low. "That fish... Is talking to you?"

...the difference was, it was talking.
...and it was saying it could grant three wishes.
As one could guess, Ludwig was reasonably surprised.
