Explanatory notes to accompany my martianholiday fic for Rebel

Dec 31, 2013 19:51

I wrote a fic for martianholiday and it turned into a bit of a strange beast for which I created an AU. In case anybody is remotely interested, I'm posting my thoughts here. This won't make much sense to you unless you've read Why Are We Running. If you wish to remain unspoilered for the entirety of Ashes to Ashes, especially 3x08, don't click on the cut.

Honestly, it works without the explanation, and I happily ignored the paradoxes as I was swept up in the moment!

I think it's only right and proper that as the writer you've thought about all this (although as a reader I never gave it a thought!) and it's very interesting to read your reasoning. The fact that you've done this gives the story a solid confident base that works so convincingly I never had a single "...hold on a minute" moment while reading.

I've read the story over at AO3 but for some reason I never feel prompted to comment over there - too impersonal or something - but I must change that. I haven't even read any LoMfic for months, years maybe, but I found my own old stuff during a disk tidy-up (hence beginning to post them at AO3) and that's got me back into it a bit. So pleased to see you're still writing!

Thank you so much! :) The premise and backstory more or less came to me in a rush of inspiration, which is always lots of fun. I'm really happy you feel it adds to the credibility of the story, that's great to hear.

The kudos function at AO3 does make commenting much less frequent, but I really like the bookmarks and mark for later, so I read on there a lot these days. I'm chuffed you're getting back into reading LoM!
