It is 2006 and abortion is now illegal in South Dakota, even in cases of rape and incest. How did we just take such a huge step back?

The law's illegal. It won't stand in court; this is just grandstanding.

Well, that's the point. It's supposed to get to the Supreme Court. It's been a long time since I took Government in high school, so I could be wrong, but shouldn't a series of appeals get it there? I don't know if I share everyone else's worry that the Supreme Court will even hear the case, never mind actually uphold it and make abortion a matter for the states to decide, but I recognize that nothing is beyond the realm of possibility.

This one won't go to the Supreme Court. It's the exact same law that's been found unconstitutional in the past; there's nothing new there to grant it consideration ( ... )
