Yes indeed, I'm still a sci-fi geek who just got very excited at the news that the Sci-Fi channel has picked up an agreement with the BBC to show the first season of the new Doctor Who! OooOoOO! Thrills and chills! I've heard it's fantastic, and as a formative show of my childhood sci-fi days, I can't wait to see the new season! (And, of course, I ( Read more... )

Now I will just have to try to indoctrinate my husband who hasn't been properly exposed to Doctor Who in any form! Amazing, eh?!

You know he can't be a true geek until he has learned to love Dr Who :)

Well he is going to get a crash course! :) Any clue if you can rent any of the episodes from 63-93 from any of the local vid chains? It's difficult to truly appreciate the Granddaddy of Sci Fi that Dr Who is without seeing at least a brief smattering of episodes from each Doctor.

I heart Dr. Who! raf37 January 13 2006, 21:30:38 UTC
YESSSSSSSSSS!

I LOVE DR. WHO! I also grew up watching it. I was addicted to it, even as a kid and my dad let me stay up late and watch it with him.

So excited about this. I will DVR it. But it says "new" Dr. Who. Does that mean it's been remade? Or are they going to play old ones?

Do you remember watching the one with the machine destroying those girl gangs (who wore different colored arms/ankle bands)?

Yep, that was with Ace and Dr #7 I do believe. Of course I might be way off on that; was it in color or b&w? :)

It's a completely new show! New stories, completely new characters, etc. I believe that the "first season" is Dr #9 (or 10?) and the "second season" of it is a new Doctor. The second season is being shot/shown (not sure which) in Great Britain now or soon.

Anywho, very cool on your DVR'ing it. They are going to release the first season of the new Who on DVD in the States in July (rather than next month, since they signed the contract with the Sci Fi Network). The first season on DVD is already out in Canada. :)

Holy crap on a stick, I LOVE the doc. My dad and I would watch it every and I mean every Sat. night. We both stayed up for 48 hrs straight when they had an all weekend marathon. I'm gonna have to let him know about this; although one of us is going to have to get cable now.
