Monthly topic

Hey all! It's been a while since the last vote for a weekly topic, huh? Well you might've noticed that it has become a monthly one. Still, the new one you chose for the next period (January) is:

"The Emerging Economies of the World"

It's quite a fruitful topic indeed. China, India, Brazil, the "Tigers" of Asia, Africa and Europe, maybe even some in Latin America. You name it. The focus is on economy of course, but there's much more into that topic. From the cultural specifics of a particular country / system, to the historical and socio-economic factors which contribute to making a nation / economy become one of the "emerging ones". Basically, "emerging" means developing rapidly at the moment both in size and significance, as compared to the rest of their region and the world as a whole. Well actually here's a better definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emerging_markets

So, yeah. Here's the monthly special topic. Grab it and squeeze it as much as you like, if you feel like it. It's not obligatory as you know, but it provides one more abstract subject to occasionally focus on, after all.

And surely, here's the poll for February:
