Today, over 55 million Turkish citizens are voting to decide if they want a presidential republic. The whole country is pretty excited about the whole thing. It's curious how the surveys seem to indicate that the higher the turnout, the more likely that Erdogan's plan would be rejected. This shows he's got a certain base with a ceiling, and he might not be supported by the majority of Turkish people. But lots of people are scared to vote against him.

Blatant campaigning on election day, fake stamps, not letting international observers into the poll stations, mass arrests and assaults on voters (and two casualties). That's how referendum day looked in "democratic" Turkey.

Well, he's engineered what he wanted.

So many mad, egotistical, thin-skinned, authoritarian blighters in charge of so many formerly civilised countries. It's just not looking like it is going to pan out well.
