There's something going on with first-women-presidents lately: first Dilma Rousseff in Brazil now Park Geun-hye.

This reminds me of our very own Lyudmila Zhivkova, the daughter of our former commie dictator Todor Zhivkov. She was part of the elite and as such, she had all privileges. Which she used to raise our cultural status in the world to a new level. Toward the end of her rather short life, she got influenced by New Age gurus and started behaving strangely, but nevertheless, she did a lot for the development of our cultural infrastructure (while still being part of the oppressive regime). She's credited for being the only person from within the regime who was really able to influence the dictator on a personal level.

An interesting and strange character, and one I was previously unaware of. I can only begin to speculate what direction Bulgaria would have gone if she had become Prime Minister and/or General Secretary.
