On-topic however I think your assessment of the situation is correct. He will probably win because the left is quite divided at the moment, and will institute the sort of economic reforms that will make people worse off (but some people very rich indeed).

Ain't it all a crying' shame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
And the poor what gets the blame.
Oh, and the immigrants, obvs. But not the bankers nor the austerity-merchants telling us we are all too poor to have nice things; like a working, functioning health service, or education, or anything like a welfare net. (Because immigrants will come and freeload off us, and we don't want to pay for them, after all.)
When half the population have sympathy with fascist policies you're screwed.
As is, we're screwed, the Yanks are screwed, the Arabs are screwed, and maybe half of Europe is screwed too. Whither Aus and NZ?
