Turkey, Europe and the US are responsible for deepening the Syrian conflict and for the biggest migration crisis that has hit Turkey and Europe in centuries. It's a consequence of the continuing war that no leader was able or willing to anticipate.

Weird, I'd have thought Mr. Assad's government would be somewhat responsible. First for the decades of oppressive rule that made any kind of peaceful transition of power impossible and then for starting to shoot peaceful protestors, kicking off the civil war. It's also a moot point, the civil war is started and no article assigning blame, even one in the Huffingtonpost, is going to help out the Syrian people ( ... )

Yes, Assad is "somewhat" responsible, too. I do hope false dichotomies of the "either A is responsible, or B is" were not going to be employed in a situation as complex as this one.

A war continues as long as there are two sides that can sustain it. Those that the likes of Huffingtonpost are calling "rebels", and who in their majority have turned out to be Jihadist extremists, were supported, aided, funded, armed, and mentored by the US and its regional allies in the Middle East. The war has continued so long exactly because of this.

The refugee crisis in Europe is a direct consequence of that. The US has refused to lend any help in that respect. That's as disingenuous as it's unsurprising.
